Current Parks Development Projects

Ward 1
Kominar Park
A new accessible playground was installed as part of the 2021 Playground Replacement Program announced in August 2021.

Lake Laguna Park
A new accessible playground was installed as part of the 2021 Playground Replacement Program announced in August 2021.

Ojibway Park
The wood pedestrian bridge has been replaced with a conventional culvert style bridge. Construction is complete and open for use.

Oakwood Park
A new dog park at Oakwood Park, directly behind Capri Pizzeria Recreation Complex, complete with accessible asphalt trails and concrete pathways, drainage improvements, fencing, concrete pads with benches, and refuse silos was completed in the fall of 2023. A new drinking fountain was installed in the summer of 2024.

Ward 2
Assumption North Park
New lighting along the riverfront multi-use trail within Assumption North Park, between the base of the Ambassador Bridge and the base of Askin Avenue, is now complete as of summer 2024.
The Riverfront Trail along this section will undergo improvements starting November 13, 2024, to be completed by the end of 2024. This project was funded in part by a grant from Trans Canada Trail to enhance our local section of Canada's national trail. Visit TCTrail.ca to learn more. The park will be open to the public; however, the washroom at Riverside Drive West and Huron Church Road will be closed for the beginning portion of the work. Construction areas will be fenced off.

Assumption North Park / Centennial Park - Lighting Improvement - Phase II
Phase II of the design of new lighting along the riverfront multi-use trail within Assumption North Park and Centennial Park, between the base of Askin Avenue and the base of McEwan Avenue. The new lights are expected to be installed in the spring/summer of 2025.

Malden Park
Some of the recently completed off-road bike trails have been closed due to a project being undertaken by the salt mine. Signage and barriers are in place indicating which trails are closed. Please exercise caution by staying off trails that have been closed. Restoration has begun around the Salt Mines projects and ask that you avoid areas where trails are closed while construction is ongoing.

Mic Mac Park
A new widened multi-use trail with new concrete pads and dedicated benches in the area of the Kimmy Lucier Playground was completed in the fall of 2022.
Kimmy Lucier Park (Mic Mac Park):
A new shade structure is constructed, and accessible seating is installed and open for use.

Wilson Park
A new batting/cricket cage was installed spring 2024 and is open for public use.

Wigle Park
Construction of a new 16-stall parking lot off Mercer Street is now complete. The parking lot is open for use.

Devonshire Park

Garwood Park

Willistead Park

Stodgell Park
To continue with the recent improvements to the playground and parking lot, a new multi-use asphalt pathway with concrete pads and benches, along with a new pollinator garden, was installed. The removal of the washroom facility has been completed.

Lanspeary Park
Lanspeary Greenhouses were relocated to the new greenhouse facility recently opened in Jackson Park. As part of the transformation, Lanspeary Park will undergo a public consultation process including a recently completed public survey. This data will be taken into consideration during development of a new park concept plan that will be presented to Council in the near future.

Mayfair Park

Alexander Park
Construction of a seating area with lights and benches is now completed.

Ward 7
Derwent Park
A full-size cricket pitch is being designed for Derwent Park. As announced in May of 2022, this will be the first full-size pitch and third pitch overall for the city. Cora Greenwood Park

Seneca Park

Stillmeadow Park

Little River Boulevard
Trail rehabilitation, which included milling and repaving the existing asphalt trail along Little River Boulevard from Banwell Road to Clover Avenue, and new trails connecting to Mancroft Street at Morningstar and Katella were completed in the fall of 2022.
Little River Corridor
A new asphalt multi-use trail was paved at the existing granular trail that connects Little River Corridor Park to the intersection of Florence Avenue and Beverly Glen Street. This trail construction was completed in the fall of 2022.
Construction of a new washroom building has started and is to be completed for spring 2025.

Elizabeth Kishkon Park
Construction of a new washroom building has started and is to be completed by spring 2025. The dog park is now complete and a new walking multi-use trail is completed connecting the park to Little River Road.

Forest Glade Park
Work on the tennis courts to convert the north bank of tennis courts for use as pickleball courts is now complete. Resurfacing of the parking lot and line painting was completed in the fall of 2022.

Sandpoint Beach
Environmental assessment (EA) to review potential options for the relocation of Sandpoint Beach. Public consultation is complete, and the report will be finalized in 2023. Please visit the project web page for more information.

Wildwood Park
New shade structure is constructed, accessible seating installed and open for use.

McHugh Park
New artificial turf to replace field #2 at the Mchugh Soccer Complex. The project is currently under design for completion by June 2025.

Coletta Park

Fontainebleau Park
Construction of a new shade structure with picnic tables was completed in the summer of 2024.

Roseville Gardens Park
A new multi-use asphalt pathway, including new concrete pads with benches, connecting to the existing sidewalk along Roseville Garden Drive, and new soccer goal posts were installed. This construction was completed in the fall of 2022.

Maple Leaf Park
A new accessible playground was installed as part of the 2021 Playground Replacement Program announced in August 2021.

Patrick Maguire Park
A new accessible playground was installed as part of the 2021 Playground Replacement Program announced in August 2021.

Walker Homesite Park and Bike Trail
The Parks Department repaved a portion of the trail along Walker Homesite Bike Trail between Calderwood Avenue, north into and including repaving/widening the multi-use trail inside Walker Homesite Park. Construction was completed in the fall of 2022.
Ward 10
Remington Booster Park
Sports court improvements of existing tennis and basketball courts. Project to include resurfacing of basketball court, 2 tennis courts and 6 pickleball courts, fence repairs, new nets and coloured surfacing with boundary lines. Construction completed in June 2024. Surface coating to be completed in fall 2024.

South Cameron Woodlot
A new accessible playground was installed as part of the 2021 Playground Replacement Program announced in August 2021.

In addition, as announced by Mayor Drew Dilkens in May of 2022, a new environmentally sensitive multi-use trail is being planned for the woodlot. The feasibility study has been completed and is now subject to budget approval.
