Community Placement

This is an opportunity for persons on social assistance to obtain more current work experience, to practice real job skills and to cultivate the beginnings of a network in order to get a job of their own.

Community Participation placements can be sponsored by Community groups, by Governments and their agencies or by non-profit organizations. Placements can be arranged to a maximum of 70 hours per month with the balance of the participant's time devoted to education, skills development or job searching.

Participants on social assistance can self-initiate placements. If already volunteering in the Community, this may be recognized as Community Participation within the Ontario Works program, provided certain standards are met.
