Derwent Park
7911 Forest Glade Drive
Situated behind College Boreal, Derwent Park is a Community Park that since 1972 has continued to transform. Derwent Park includes the 16.3-acre Shaughnessy Cohen Woods that straddles the Little River. In 2000, the Rotary Club of Windsor 1918 developed The Safety Village on the western grounds of the park along Lauzon Parkway.
Derwent Park is currently home to 650 metres of gravel and natural trails that run through the park and the Shaughnessy Cohen Woods. Combined, the woodlot, trail and open space cover approximately 32 acres in total.
Upcoming Park Improvements
In 2022, City Council allocated $100,000 for a comprehensive design project to integrate a cricket field into the park's landscape while enhancing and extending the nearby recreational multi-use trails. The new functional upgrades will include:
- The first full-size cricket pitch in Windsor, including benches and perimeter lighting
- New recreational multi-use pathways, accessible benches and solar lighting
- Additional parking
- New accessible washrooms
- Park irrigation improvements

Thank you for your input!
The City of Windsor appreciates the active participation of the community in the public survey completed between December 5, 2023, and January 12, 2024. More than 100 responses were received and will be reviewed and considered by the Parks Development team during development of the final design.
Next Steps
A report will be presented to City Council in the spring/summer of 2024. Construction of Phase 1 (cricket pitch and drainage improvements) is planned for 2025.
