Construction Updates
March 1, 2022 - The City held a series of neighbourhood meetings the week of February 21, 2022, to discuss the Riverside Drive Vista Phase 2A from St. Rose Avenue to Ford Boulevard. The displays from these neighbourhood meetings have been included in the links below:
January 17, 2022 - The City will be holding a series of neighbourhood meetings in February 2022 to discuss the Riverside Drive Vista Phase 2A from St. Rose Avenue to Ford Boulevard. Due to COVID measures, the exact time and place are to be announced at a future date. Please see the notice that was provided directly to the affected residents in December for more information:
January 17, 2022 - Riverside Drive Vista Phase 2A from St. Rose Avenue to Ford Boulevard is currently in the final design stage with plans 60% complete.
In February, administration will seek Council approval to start the property acquisition process for required land and easements. During this process, City staff will continue to be available for meetings and property negotiations with affected residents. This phase is expected to continue during 2022.
Pre-construction activities, including utilities relocation, are anticipated to take place throughout 2023.
Road, watermain, and sewer construction is planned for 2024 and 2025, with the phasing of the project to be determined at a future date. Residents will have access to their driveways and properties throughout the project, except in the few instances where construction activities will be taking place immediately adjacent to their properties. January 17, 2022 - Riverside Drive Vista Phase 1 Stage 2 from Lauzon Road to the Solidarity Tower has been completed, including surface asphalt and line painting. The City thanks all residents for their patience and co-operation during this project. August 20, 2019 - Riverside Drive East between Lauzon Road and Riverdale Avenue is re-opened. In 2020, surface asphalt will be placed and line painting for on-road bike lanes will be completed.
March 25, 2019 - Construction between Lauzon Road and Dieppe Street began in March and will continue through to June 2019. Construction of sewer, watermain, and road rehabilitation between Dieppe Street and Solidarity Tower were completed in 2018.
August 3, 2017 - Relocation of underground gas works between Dieppe Street and the Solidarity Tower is expected to be completed by mid-August. Following that, gas main relocations will begin between Dieppe Street and Lauzon Road and continue until early fall.
June 1, 2017 - Pre-construction relocation of Bell, Cogeco, and ENWIN utilities is expected to be complete in the first week of July. Relocation of underground gas works will begin within the following weeks and is expected to continue into late summer. Please below for the Union Gas notice that was provided to its customers:
March 16, 2017 - Pre-construction relocation of Bell, Cogeco, and ENWIN utilities is expected to continue through the end of the winter. Relocation of underground gas works will follow in early spring.
January 20, 2017 - ENWIN Utilities will be relocating and replacing existing hydro poles between Dieppe Street and Lauzon Road as part of the Riverside Vista project beginning on February 13, 2017.
November 10, 2016 - A construction notice will be delivered this month. The notice will provide instructions for any resident who would like to provide an alternate contact person in the event they are away during construction and access to their home is required by utility agencies. Additionally, any resident who would like to receive construction notices and updates via email can provide their contact information to City administration. See the link below for further details:
November 9, 2016 - Relocation of ENWIN utility poles will continue until the end of the year. Advanced work to expose underground utilities in the location of the new hydro poles was completed the week of October 31, 2016. See the link below for further information:
October 1, 2016 - The first stage of utility pole relocation between Solidarity Tower and Dieppe Street is anticipated to be completed in early 2017. The second stage of relocation between Dieppe Street and Lauzon Road is expected to begin the week of October 3. This work will identify any temporary relocation that will need to be completed prior to beginning construction in the new year.
In anticipation of Riverside Drive Vista Phase 1, Stage 2 (Solidarity Towers to Lauzon Road), work will begin on utility relocations to eliminate conflicts with the Vista construction as follows:
