Community Ride Token Program
This Transit Windsor program offers convenient prepaid transit products designed primarily for non-profit organizations, community agencies, and other approved organizations that offer transportation assistance to clients, students, participants, or program attendees. These pre-paid ride tokens offer a simple way to distribute transit access without requiring individuals to purchase fares themselves. Transit Windsor manages the tokens through its Umo fare management system and issues them to approved organizations for distribution.
How Do Ride Tokens Work?
Each token contains a predetermined number of transit rides:
- 2-Ride Token: Provides two one-way transit rides
- 5-Ride Token: Provides five one-way transit rides
When a rider uses a token to board a Transit Windsor bus, one ride is deducted from the balance. Each ride also includes a two-hour transfer window, allowing the rider to transfer between Transit Windsor routes and continue their trip as needed within two hours of the initial boarding.
Once all rides have been used, the token has no remaining value and can no longer be used for future travel.
Benefits for Organizations
Simple Distribution
Organizations can quickly provide transit access to clients, program participants, or individuals in need without handling cash, tickets, or fare reimbursement requests.
Convenient for Riders
Recipients do not need to purchase fares, carry cash, or visit a sales location to access transit. The rides are preloaded and ready to use.
Organizations interested in providing transit support through the Community Ride Token Program can contact the Transit Windsor Marketing Coordinator at 519-255-6100 ext. 6628 to learn more about the program.
