Impact of COVID-19 on Marginalized Populations

Pathway to Potential completed a comprehensive literature review to explore the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on marginalized populations and the tools to respond to these impacts in the Windsor-Essex region. The exploration includes research on several impacts of COVID-19, including financial security, food security, the physical and mental health of several vulnerable groups, and other issues, such as challenges with accessing technology and lack of access to information.

Data indicate that the global pandemic exacerbated pre-existing conditions among historically vulnerable populations, including children and youth, families living with low income, seniors, visible minority groups, newcomers, the LGBTQ2+ community, and people at-risk of or experiencing homelessness.

The literature review and related appendices are available for download:

Presentations

The Windsor Essex Local Immigration Partnership (WE LIP), WE Value Partnership, and Pathway to Potential hosted a Lunch & Learn about the impacts of the pandemic on Newcomers to Canada in August 2021.
