Stronger Networks, Stronger Advocacy: Gender-Based Violence Conference

On March 24, 2026, the Hub Without Walls (HWoW), Violence Against Women Coordinating Committee Windsor-Essex (VAWCCWE), and UWindsor Gender-Based Violence Research Centre hosted the "Stronger Networks, Stronger Advocacy: Gender-Based Violence Conference" that brought together survivors, community leaders, advocates, activists, scholars, and emerging professionals.
The Windsor Essex Community Safety & Well-Being Plan (the Plan) set up an information booth. This conference aligns with the third pillar of the Plan, Coordinated Systems.
Motivational Interviewing Workshop
On March 3, 2026, the Crisis & Trauma Training Resource Institute facilitated a Substance Supports in Neighbourhoods Accessed through Police Partnerships (SSNAPP)–sponsored workshop that provided its participants with new ways to facilitate the change process in the people they work with.
The Plan has partnered with the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) through their Windsor-Essex Community Opioid and Substance Strategy, and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) to make Essex County a safer place for everyone to live, work, and visit. Learn more at the SSNAPP website.
These workshops, as well as many of SSNAPP's initiatives, align with the third pillar of the Plan, Coordinated Systems.
Empowered Voices: Youth Leading Change Symposium

On February 24, 2026, the Regional Crime Prevention Council (RCPC) hosted the youth symposium entitled "Empowered Voices: Youth Leading Change" for grade 6 students at the Ciociaro Club.
Dominic Johnson, local athlete and coach, delivered a motivational speech. Students attended workshops on various important topics, such as online safety, substance use, and healthy relationships. Service providers throughout Windsor-Essex provided information and resources to youth.
This symposium aligns with the first pillar of the Plan, Engaged Communities.
Trauma-Informed Care — Building a Culture of Strength Workshop
On February 20, 2026, the Crisis & Trauma Resource Institute facilitated a SSNAPP–sponsored workshop where five key principles to integrate a trauma-informed approach were explored and discussed.
These workshops align with the third pillar of the Plan, Coordinated Systems.
De-Escalating Potentially Violent Situations Workshop
On February 6, 2026, the Crisis & Trauma Resource Institute facilitated a SSNAPP–sponsored online workshop to teach local service providers how to de-escalate potentially violent situations through assertiveness and interpersonal communication.
These workshops align with the third pillar of the Plan, Coordinated Systems.
Wellness Strategies for Helping Professionals Workshop
On January 30, 2026, the Crisis & Trauma Resource Institute facilitated a SSNAPP–sponsored online workshop that helped its participants identify personal stress factors and introduce them to practical methods for successfully managing stress.
Many of SSNAPP's initiatives, such as this workshop, align with the Plan's third pillar, Coordinated Systems.
