The Columns
The Columns, 2000
Poured concrete, 510 x 45 centimetres each
The four entrance columns to our garden of sculptures are reminiscent of Greek culture. Both elegant and impressive, they form a classical setting for the works to follow. We could indeed be in Athens in the fifth century B.C., the Golden Age of Greece. Their task is twofold: to welcome viewers to our "museum without walls" and to provide our garden with a strong historical anchor. Once again, we are reminded that Windsor has made a public commitment to art, which is a necessary component of any "golden" society.
