A Butterfly's Wings Jack Byng

Sculpture on the waterfront as detailed below

Jack Byng
A Butterfly's Wings, 2014
Granite, bronze, stainless steel, 218 x 59 x 59 centimetres

On the top of a five-foot granite plinth, two arms stretch out toward the sky. The bronze arms appear in motion, as if releasing the two stainless steel butterflies from their care. Paralleling the transformation of a caterpillar into a butterfly, the journey of a person with a brain injury can be transforming. Commissioned by the Brain Injury Association of Windsor & Essex County, Jack Byng’s A Butterfly’s Wings is a beautiful tribute to those who have struggled with brain injuries.
