Stay Cool and Beat the Heat, Windsor!
Published
With extremely hot and humid weather on the horizon for the official start of summer, the City of Windsor is committed to ensuring residents stay safe and cool.
Here are some options to beat the heat:
- Enjoy cooling off at one of our eleven free splash pads, open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Windsor’s Public Library branches and City Customer Care Centres provide cool havens away from the heat. Stay hydrated with water filling stations and fountains available at all Customer Care Centres.
- Outdoor pools will be opening for the season on June 28, 2025.
The Homelessness and Housing Help Hub (H4) at 400 Wyandotte Street East is open for those experiencing homelessness, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays.
The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) informs residents of heat events under the following conditions:
- Daytime highs reach or exceed 31 degrees Celsius (87.8 degrees Fahrenheit) for two consecutive days with nighttime lows above 21 degrees Celsius (69.8 degrees Fahrenheit), or
- The humidex reaches 42 degrees Celsius (107.6 degrees Fahrenheit) or higher.
- For detailed criteria, please visit the WECHU Heat Warnings web page.
