Special Yard Waste Collection for Zone A

Published

As part of the City’s post-storm response, the City, in partnership with Miller Waste, will provide an additional yard waste collection of properly prepared storm-related tree waste in Zone A during the week of September 14, 2026. This additional yard waste collection is intended for Zone A residents who were unable to prepare and place all eligible storm-related tree waste at the curb in time for their regular yard waste collection schedule this week. Yard waste collection for Windsor residents in Zone B will continue next week as scheduled.

This special collection is available only to Zone A residents with storm-related tree waste that meets the preparation requirements below. This special collection will occur in Zone A on the day of the week that you normally set out your waste for collection. To request this additional collection, residents in Zone A are asked to create a "Special Yard Waste Collection" service request through the Windsor 311 app or 311online.ca

If you are unsure of what zone you reside in, please refer to the waste collection schedule.

Zone A residents are asked to register by Monday, September 14, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. and must place the properly prepared yard waste at the curb until collected. Residents outside Zone A should not register for this special pick-up; however, they are welcome to continue disposing of yard waste on their assigned days or dropping off at the Public Drop Off Depot.

Yard Waste Collection Instructions

For tree waste collection, Windsor residents are asked to:

  • Limit the length of the branches to 4 feet (122 centimetres);
  • Limit the thickness of the branches to no more than 4 inches (10 centimetres) thick;
  • Limit the weight of the branches to 44 pounds (20 kilograms); and
  • Tie tree branches together, if possible.

Storm-related tree waste not meeting the above requirements can be dropped off at the City’s Public Drop Off Depot (3560 North Service Road East) at no charge.

We appreciate the patience, cooperation and understanding of residents as crews continue this important work across the community. For more information, please contact 311.

Please note: 311 continues to experience higher-than-normal call volumes, which may affect wait times. Residents are encouraged to use the Windsor 311 mobile app or online portal whenever possible to avoid wait times and submit service requests more quickly and easily, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Duplicate calls and reports slow down the response process. Once a request has been submitted through the app or online, residents can be assured it is in the system and will be addressed based on priority and available resources.
