Secure Your Load: Help Keep Our Roads Safe on the Way to the Public Drop Off Depot

Residents are being reminded to properly secure and cover all loads before transporting garbage, recycling, yard waste, construction debris, or other materials to the Public Drop Off Depot at 3540 North Service Road East.

Unsecured loads can scatter litter along roadways, create hazards for other motorists, and result in cleanup costs. Materials that fall from vehicles along the way can also cause traffic disruptions and damage to property.

Residents are encouraged to:

• Cover all loads with a tarp, net, or other suitable covering
• Secure materials with ropes, straps, or tie-downs
• Avoid overloading vehicles or trailers
• Check that items are safely contained before departing
• Inspect loads again before entering the drop-off site

Common items, such as loose yard waste, lumber, furniture pieces, packaging materials, and household garbage, can easily shift or become airborne during transport if not properly secured.

By ensuring loads are covered and secured, residents can help:

• Reduce litter on roads and in neighbourhoods
• Improve safety for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians
• Prevent unnecessary delays and cleanup efforts
• Support efficient operations at the public drop-off depot
