Plows Move Into Residential Areas Following Snowfall
The City of Windsor is advising residents that steady snowfall throughout the day has now reached the accumulation level required to trigger residential street plowing operations.
Crews have been actively clearing main roads and priority routes since the onset of the storm. With snow totals continuing to rise across the city, contractors and City equipment will begin moving into residential neighbourhoods early tomorrow morning once the snow has stopped and main routes/expressways are cleared. The focus will remain on snow clearing during this time and salting operations will be minimal given salt is generally ineffective at the current winter temperatures being experienced.
Residents are asked to assist plowing efforts by:
- Removing parked vehicles from the street, where possible, to allow plows to pass through efficiently.
- Taking extra caution while driving, as plow trucks and heavy equipment will be active across the city.
- Avoiding pushing snow back onto roadways when clearing driveways and sidewalks.
The City will continue to monitor conditions and adjust operations as needed.
Snow Angels Volunteers Needed for Snow Removal
Just a reminder while residents are responsible for shovelling and clearing their sidewalks, the City’s Snow Angels volunteer snow removal program is still looking for volunteers which can help to assist residents.
