Municipal Election Nominations Open May 1, 2026
Nominations for the 2026 municipal election in Windsor will open on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 8:30 a.m., and candidates seeking nomination will have until Friday, August 21, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. to register.

The municipal election will be held on Monday, October 26, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Polling locations are being finalized and will be released soon. Advance voting is scheduled for mid-October with details forthcoming.
Nominations
Residents seeking nomination must fill out the prescribed forms, which will be available at 350 City Hall Square West on the first floor (wickets 3 and 4) or online at www.WindsorElections.ca as of May 1. A nomination filing fee of $100 applies for city councillor and school board trustee candidates and $200 for mayoral candidates (cash, debit, or credit card payment only).
Nominations must be signed by the candidate and filed in person or by an agent during regular business hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday (excluding holidays), from May 1 to August 20, 2026; or between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Nomination Day, Friday, August 21, 2026. Eligibility
Those wishing to run for election must, at the time of being nominated, be:
- A resident of the city of Windsor or a non-resident owner or tenant of land in the city of Windsor, or the spouse of such owner or tenant,
- A Canadian citizen,
- At least 18 years old, and
- Not disqualified by any legislation from holding municipal office.
