Join the Earth Day Windsor-Essex Celebration at Malden Park!
Celebrate Earth Day’s 56th birthday with us! Windsor and Essex County residents are invited to explore Earth Day Windsor-Essex, a free, family-friendly event at Malden Park (4200 Malden Road) on Sunday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Enjoy a day filled with engaging activities, lively entertainment, and hands-on environmental fun for all ages!
Earth Day began in 1970 and has grown into a global movement connecting people in over 193 countries. Locally, Earth Day Windsor-Essex has united our community since 1989, inspiring environmental awareness and action.
This year’s event will feature more than 60 environmental booths, interactive exhibits, arts and crafts, games, live performances, and food vendors, offering something for everyone — all in one place.
Event Highlights:
- Discover how City of Windsor staff are advancing environmental initiatives and climate action through tree planting, naturalization, community gardens, water stewardship and more.
- Take part in the YQGgreen clothing and book swap by bringing gently-used items and selecting new pieces for your wardrobe and bookshelf. This initiative encourages sustainable choices while supporting the circular economy.
- Meet The Eyrie: Birds of Prey Services. Marvel at magnificent raptors, join in cool bird activities, and be inspired by wildlife.
- Park your bike at the free bike valet, and join the bike rodeo. Kids can boost their cycling confidence and learn new skills!
- Get up close to city waste management trucks and see the magic of responsible waste handling.
- Children can enjoy face painting, arts and crafts, and hands‑on planting activities throughout the day.
Earth Day Windsor-Essex is a zero-waste event! Composting, recycling, and proper waste-sorting stations will be available to help everyone keep the event clean and green, thanks to Essex-Windsor Solid Waste Authority (EWSWA),
Help make this event planet-friendly! We encourage attendees to:
- Opt for sustainable and active modes of transportation, such as walking, biking or carpooling
- Use Transit Windsor (Route 240 stops at Malden Park via Matchett Road. Check out Transit Windsor Schedules and Maps for more info.)
- Bring a reusable water bottle and shopping bag
This year’s Earth Day theme, Our Power, Our Planet, is all about working together! Take the pledge, share your Earth Day actions on social media, and tag your posts with #OurPowerOurPlanet and #EarthDayWE2026. Let’s show the world what Windsor-Essex can do!

“For 37 years, our community has come together to celebrate Earth Day and reaffirm our shared responsibility to protect and sustain the place we call home. This year’s theme — ‘Our Power, Our Planet’ — reminds us that real change begins at the local level — with leadership, strategic partnerships, responsible investments, and everyday choices that shape a stronger city for all.”
