“Picturesque and storied Peche Island is a true gem in the city of Windsor. The island was nominated for Best Waterfront Experience this year in the 11th Annual Best of Windsor-Essex Awards by Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island. It is unique to have a City-operated ferry available to transport adventure-seekers and history lovers from Lakeview Park Marina to visit the 86-acre island to walk along the trails, explore the ruins of Hiram Walker’s summer house, have a picnic, and more. As part of the Council-approved 2026 budget, with a 0% municipal tax levy increase and a $2.26 billion 10-year capital plan, we are Investing Responsibly with over $29 million for community services like parks, recreation, facilities and culture — including at Peche Island. I encourage Windsorites to take advantage of this opportunity to discover, rediscover, and explore Peche Island.”- Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens
