CUPE Local 82 Revokes Agreement with City of Windsor

Published

On Friday, February 20, 2026, the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the City of Windsor and CUPE Local 82, which allowed for up to 60 part-time positions supporting the maintenance of community centres and arenas, was revoked by CUPE Local 82.

As a result of this change, 57 Temporary Part-Time Recreational Facilities Attendant roles, filled over the past seven months, will conclude. Affected employees will receive notification that their last day of employment will be April 21, 2026, in accordance with the agreement’s 60-day notification requirement.

This adjustment does not impact any regular full-time employees.

The MOA, originally signed in August 2025 after nearly two years of negotiations, had replaced a previous agreement that was also revoked by CUPE Local 82 on June 5, 2025, resulting in 37 position reductions on July 5, 2025, under a 30-day notice requirement.

The Corporation has complied with all terms outlined in the Memorandum of Agreement and held several meetings with the union to discuss their issues. Despite fulfilling these requirements, the union ultimately decided to withdraw from the agreement.
