Collapse on to Power Vault Causes Power Outage, Repairs Underway

The City of Windsor, Enwin Utilities Inc., Enbridge Gas and Cogeco Cable are all working together to bring utilities impacted by a collapse onto a hydro vault back on line as soon as possible.

At approximately 4:00 p.m. this afternoon, Tuesday September 19, 2023, Enwin Utilities reported a vehicle collapse on to an underground power vault at the Royal Windsor Terrace, located at 380 Pelissier Street in Windsor.

The collapse knocked out power to roughly 500 customers and Enwin anticipates having the grid isolated to allow power back to most by midnight tonight.

Once the area is isolated, the vault will be cleared and equipment inspected to see what needs to be done to bring everyone back on line.

Drivers are asked to use extra caution at impacted downtown intersections in case traffic lights are flashing or not functioning. Please treat as four way stops.
