City of Windsor Postal Service Update for Vendor Payments, Payments to the City, and Ontario Works

Following the recent update regarding the Canada Post labour dispute, which includes a partial return to delivery service, the City of Windsor offers the following updates on some impacted municipal services. 

Vendor Notice – Cheque Pickup and Mailing Update

Please be advised that the City of Windsor will continue to hold all cheques for pickup in the lobby of 350 City Hall Square West until 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 23, 2025.

Effective Friday, October 24, 2025, any cheques not picked up will be mailed out in accordance with the City’s regular distribution process.

Payments to the City (Including Property Taxes)

All City departments will remain open and accept in-person payments for services provided.

For individuals wanting to courier in payments to the City of Windsor, payments can be sent to the following address:

For individuals wanting to send in payments to the City of Windsor via Canada Post, payments can be mailed to the following address:

If sending by mail, please allow additional time for the delivery and posting of payments to your account.

Property tax payments can also be made through the following methods:

  • At an approved bank, credit union or trust company
  • By telephone or online banking
  • With your mortgage payments at your financial institution
  • At the 350 City Hall Square West 1st floor drop-off box (cheques only)

The City also offers three convenient pre-authorized payment plans.

Property Tax Sale Tenders

Property Tax Sale tenders will be received until 3:00 p.m. local time on November 19, 2025, at City of Windsor, 350 City Hall Square West, 1st Floor, Windsor, Ontario. All Tax Sale tender packages should be sent via courier or hand delivered to ensure timely receipt.

Property Tax Billing Information

Property owners are encouraged to sign up for the My Property Tax online portal that enables property owners to view billing details including due dates and amounts owing. To get started, visit the E-Services page on the City’s website and then choose My Property Tax to set up an account.

Ontario Works

Direct Deposit Recipients

All recipients who receive payments through direct deposit will continue to do so, as direct deposits will not be affected by a postal disruption.

Cheque Recipients

Ontario Works clients who receive payment by cheque or Direct Bank Deposit statements with a bus pass and those issued a new reloadable payment card will be able to pick up their November monthly assistance at the locations listed below.

Cheque Distribution Centres

November monthly assistance cheques will be available for pickup as follows:

  • Windsor Office Recipients & Vendors:
    Friday, October 31, and Monday, November 3, 2025
    9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
    400 City Hall Square East, Suite 102, Windsor
  • Leamington Office Recipients:
    Friday, October 31 and Monday, November 3, 2025
    11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
    33 Princess Street, Leamington

Recipients must bring two pieces of government-issued identification (ID), one of which must have a photo. Individuals cannot pick up cheques or reloadable payment cards (RPCs) on behalf of another individual. Before proceeding to the cheque distribution location, please call 1-800-808-2268 to ensure your cheque has been printed and is ready for pick-up. Status of payment can also be viewed on the MyBenefits app.

Daily Cheques

Daily cheques will continue to be held for pick-up by clients.
