City of Windsor Offers Supports for People Experiencing Homelessness this Winter

The City of Windsor is committed to ensuring that anyone experiencing homelessness in Windsor and Essex County can access a place to sleep at an emergency shelter or overnight drop-in centre. Supported through municipal, provincial, and federal funding, these facilities are prepared to meet the needs of the community over the winter months.

Currently, there are 197 shelter beds and rooms available for men, women, couples, families, and their pets at four locations as well as 100 additional overnight drop-in spaces at the following locations:

Welcome Centre Shelter for Women

The City continues to monitor emergency shelter and drop-in data daily and is in preliminary discussions with service providers to expand capacity if demand exceeds current resources. However, data indicates that there is currently enough space within the existing facilities. 

211 Can Help!

The 211 helpline can refer people to places to stay warm as well as community services and programs that can offer assistance. Service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in more than 150 languages.
