City Council Announces Board Restructuring at Windsor Essex Community Housing Corporation (WECHC) and Issues a Call for Public Applications

To enhance the professional skill set of the Windsor Essex Community Housing Corporation's Board, City Council unanimously approved a restructuring of the WECHC board, effective January 1, 2026. The decision made by City Council, aims to ensure the Board is equipped with the expertise needed to effectively govern and support the housing needs of our community.

Mayor Drew Dilkens emphasized the importance of this decision: "Our goal is to build a Board that is not only diverse but also highly professional and skilled. As the Sole Shareholder of WECHC, the City of Windsor is committed to ensuring that we have a strong board governance structure with clear mandates and objectives to contribute to the Board's mission."

The City of Windsor is now accepting applications for new volunteer board members, with a specific emphasis on those applicants with legal and accounting experience. 

The deadline to submit your application is on Friday, October 24, 2025. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply online at www.WindsorABC.ca or obtain a printed copy from the City Clerk’s Office, Suite 530, 350 City Hall Square West.
