Brand New Swimming Pool Opens in Lanspeary Park

Summer of Swimming Opens Across the City

The City of Windsor is excited to announce the opening of a new $3 million 5,200-square-foot swimming pool at Lanspeary Park located at 1250 Langlois Avenue. This state-of-the-art facility replaces Windsor's first municipal outdoor pool, which served the community for over 70 years.

The new pool features a beach entry design, similar to the Remington Booster and Riverside Centennial pools, enhancing programming options and increasing participation and engagement with learn-to-swim activities. The L-shaped pool is fully accessible and includes a strategic design that positions the deep end farthest from the change rooms, adding an extra layer of safety for younger swimmers.

Residents can look forward to a superior swimming experience this summer with the addition of this modern facility to Windsor's extensive list of recreational amenities.

Programming at the new pool will include the following:

  • Parent and tot programming
  • Preschool programming
  • Learn-to-swim programming for participants of all ages
  • Deep and shallow aqua fit classes 
  • Aquatic leadership courses 
  • Opportunities for swim clubs, diving, and triathlon groups
  • Rental opportunities

The City’s Aquatics division employs over 200 instructors and lifeguards for eight indoor and outdoor pools as well as Sandpoint Beach.

All City pools will open to the public on Saturday, June 29, 2024. In addition to the new Lanspeary Park pool, the City offers swimming opportunities at the following sites:

  • Remington Booster Outdoor Pool
  • Riverside Centennial Outdoor Pool
  • Gino and Liz Marcus Indoor Pool
  • WFCU Centre Community (Indoor) Pool
  • Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre (WIATC) – Natatorium presented by WFCU Credit Union
  • WIATC – Adventure Bay Family Water Park presented by WFCU Credit Union
  • Central Outdoor Pool (undergoing repairs until July 6, 2024)
  • Sandpoint Beach

As part of the City's outdoor aquatics offerings during the summer months, the City also operates 11 splash pads across various locations, available daily from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The City’s 2024 capital budget invests $23.5 million in parks, facilities, and recreation across the city; and the 2024 operating budget allocates $46.2 million towards parks, facilities, and recreation operations. Looking forward, the 10-year capital plan will invest more than $184.5 million in City parks, arenas, and recreation.
