Aerial Photos

The Geomatics Division develops and maintains aerial photography of the city in a variety of formats and flying years. 

Below is a list of the photo products and services that can be purchased for a fee:

Ortho Digital Photos

  • Digital geo-referenced, aerial photos, are available in tiles of 1,000 metres by 1,000 metres, in geotif format, to print for flying years in:
    • Black and White: 
      • 2000, 2002 and 2004
    • Colour: 
      • 2006, 2008 and 2010
    • Please refer to photo number when ordering. 
    • Price: $150.00 per tile, plus applicable taxes
    • Print Size: 9 Inches by 9 Inches
  • MrSid format photo - Entire City
    • Price: $6,890.00, plus applicable taxes
  • Geotif custom created from MrSid photo
    • Price: To be determined.
  • Custom created photo of any area, saved to JPG — not geo-referenced — suitable for using Word, PowerPoint or any other non-drafting or Geographic Information System (GIS) use.
    • Price: $65.00 minimum (per hour), plus applicable taxes

The City of Windsor keeps digital copies of aerial photography for the following years: 

  • Black and White:
    • 1969, 1977-78 (limited), 1987, 1990, 1993, 1996, 1998, 2002 and 2004
    • Size: 9 Inches by 9 Inches
  • Colour:
    • 2006, 2008, 2010, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2021, 2023 and 2024 
    • Size varies, based on requested area

To order a print of a contact photo, send an email to jmuegge@citywindsor.ca stating the years desired and a location description (attach a map, if possible). If you wish to see the area enlarged to 200 or 300 percent, please indicate this in your request.

Allow at least 24 hours for your request to be processed. Please provide a return name and phone number, as we will contact you when the order is ready for pick-up on the second floor of 350 City Hall Square West.

Aerial Contact Photo Prices:

  • Digital File: $35.00 per file (includes research, validation and file transfer), plus applicable taxes
  • Print: $15.00 first copy, plus applicable taxes
  • Additional Copies: $5.00 each, plus applicable taxes
