Why volunteer for Open Streets?

What do volunteers do?
- Maintain safety of route for participants.
- Greet participants as they enter the route.
- Assist with entrance/exit of authorized vehicles.
- Direct unauthorized traffic to alternate routes.
- Safely remove the barricade after the Windsor police cruiser has swept your location at the end of the event.
Volunteer Roles
Ambassador
Bike Rocket
Bike Rockets work with Block Captains to ensure all volunteers within a portion of the route receive breaks and the resources they need to do their job. Bike Rockets will help with set-up and take-down. Bike Rockets are required to be able to move through a 2km portion of the route. Bike Rockets are required to bring their own bicycle.
Happiness Concierge
Volunteer Shifts
- 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Other shifts may be available by request.

Training Manual
Training is mandatory for all volunteers. The City has prepared an interactive training manual, which compiles instructions and information every volunteer needs to know for the event. All volunteers will be provided with the training manual.
