Participants 9 years of age and under are required to have supervision at all times when visiting the aquatic facilities listed above.
Participants must be directly supervised in the water at all times by a responsible person 13 years of age or older. The supervising (responsible) person must be able to touch the bottom of the pool.
We strongly recommend that anyone under the age of 12 (10 and 11 years old) have a supervising (responsible) person with them at all times.
All participants aged 9 and under will receive a red wristband upon entry. If participants aged 9 and under do not wish to attempt the swim test or do not successfully complete (pass) the swim test, the following supervisory ratios will be in effect:
Supervision Ratio if Swim Test Not Completed or Not Successfully Completed:
- 1:2 (no lifejacket/personal flotation device [PFD] plus must remain within arms' reach)
- 1:4 (with lifejacket/PFD plus must remain within arms' reach)
A participant aged 9 and under may take a swim test consisting of:
- 20-metre swim (or width of the pool if further) without touching the bottom
- Ability to tread water for 30 seconds
If successful, the participant will be given a green wristband. The participant may swim in deep water. The participant must still be supervised in the facility.
Supervision Ratio if Swim Test Successfully Completed:
- 1:4 (no lifejacket/PFD)
