Minimum Qualifications (non negotiable):

OUR REQUIREMENTS:
• High school or equivalent
• Problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and organization skills
• AZ license
• Clean Abstract & CVOR
• More than 10 years of AZ Driving Experience in Transportation
• Basic computer skills
• Thorough knowledge of ELD systems and HOS
• Creative analytical skills are a must
• Act with respect and professionalism at all times
Preferred but negotiable:
• Ability to adjust shift and start times - as needed
• More than 2 Years in Driver Training Experience - an asset
• Driver Trainer Certificate and Air Brake Instructors Certificate, equivalent to the standard required by the Ministry of Transportation as a Signing Authority a strong asset
• Train the Trainer Course is a strong asset
Job Description:
The Driver Trainer is required, but not limited to, provide daily training and coaching to the trainee throughout the trip and complete on-the-job evaluation forms, as well as identify issues, provide recommendations, and work collaboratively with the safety department, drivers, and management teams.
Work is performed in a normal transportation environment with exposure to various inclement weather and safety risks that present themselves on the roadways.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Use all available technical resources to monitor DOT, MTO, C-TPAT/PIP, and company policies in accordance with State, Provincial, and Federal law
• Ensure compliance during training, observations, and evaluations; communicate compliance issues immediately to Safety & Compliance Specialist and Management
• Complete road tests, road evaluations, and on-the-job training with drivers; apprentices, journeymen, and master drivers
• Review road evaluations with the safety & compliance specialist and collectively determine the next steps in training
• Input driver evaluations into their respective dashboard
• Participate in accident, injury, and near-miss investigations and provide insight on countermeasures, including training
• Have working knowledge in all areas of business; operational & safety
• Thorough understanding of all aspects of the PeopleNet system
• Provide training with all employees for inspections on major and minor defects
• Review driver SOPs on a yearly basis or as-needed for accuracy and provide solutions for improvement
• Assist dispatch with questions or concerns
• Monitor and ensure that staff and drivers follow company procedures, instructions, policies and follow customer requirements and expectations
• Participate in corrective action reports for any service non-conformances that are detected
• Be part of a team environment focused on achieving business objectives & KPIs
• Work with management to develop action plans for when service KPIs are not meeting the required targets
• Identify potential service issues and develop troubleshooting measures to address them proactively
• Demonstrate leadership and communicate a commitment to quality
• Ensure all employees are instructed in safe work practices and that work is carried out in a safe manner
• Assist management and JHSC in addressing reported unsafe acts and conditions, accidents, and injuries and inform employees of the existence of any potential or actual risk to their Health and Safety
• Ensure ongoing communication and follow up with peers, drivers, other departments, fellow suppliers, and customers
• Other work-related duties as assigned
