Targeted COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic Site Information

The City of Windsor is providing space, signage and support staff at the WFCU Centre, which will serve as a targeted COVID-19 vaccination clinic operated by the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit.

Health unit officials announced Thursday that they will begin targeted pre-registered vaccinations for those 80 years of age and above starting Monday, March 1, 2021. For all details related to pre-registration or the vaccine process, please visit the website of the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit at wechu.org. For anyone without web access, call the WECHU’s pre-registration hotline at 519-251-4072. (Please note that, due to expected high call volumes initially, it may take multiple attempts to speak with a health unit representative).

Targeted Vaccination Site Information

City staff have created a plan to utilize two community rinks to ensure social distancing can be maintained for those entering the facility, receiving their vaccination and then exiting the facility. Staff will be on hand between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Upon entering the WFCU Centre property from either entrance off McHugh Street, pre-registered individuals will be greeted by a staff member, provided with a 3-ply mask to wear and directed where to park and enter the building.

Important Note: Only those with a pre-registered appointment will be allowed in the targeted vaccination clinic, and all others will be turned away.

Items pre-registered individuals will need to bring:

• Everyone who has registered is required to bring an Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) card or any government-issued photo identification (if they do not have an OHIP card) to confirm their appointment. Examples of acceptable government-issued photo identification include a driver's licence, passport, status card or other provincial health card. Public health officials takes vaccine prioritization seriously. Providing false information may result in cancellation of your appointment.
