Parks and Facilities

Parks & Facilities is responsible for 206 parks, with over 2,500 acres of parkland; 175 kilometres of hard surface trails; 300,000 square feet of horticultural beds; 2,300 self-watering planters; and 90,000 City-owned trees within the urban forest, the Ojibway Nature Centre and the most species-diverse parks in Canada. 

The department provides building maintenance and operations, caretaking, security, planning, building construction and renovations, project management, lease administration, and asset management. It is also responsible for creating unique park experiences, supporting numerous special events, and is committed to supporting the corporation and community by providing safe, clean, well-maintained community assets in a responsive and effective manner.
