Windsorites work hard to keep their city clean and safe. The City of Windsor’s By-law Enforcement and Building Inspection Units partner with Windsorites through active enforcement and public campaigns to enforce City by-laws. These by-laws are written to achieve the following:

Here is a brief summary of the considerations you and your neighbours should keep in mind:
Noise

Please keep noise levels down to ensure a happy, vibrant neighbourhood.

If you are subjected to excessive noise by your neighbours, please contact the City to register a complaint.

“Noise” is defined as unwanted sound and is prohibited in residential areas at all times.
Yard Maintenance
(By-law 3-2006)

Unkempt yards can be an eyesore, and in some cases they can even be a safety hazard.

Grass must be cut (below 12 inches).

Overgrown weeds and standing water must be removed.

Garbage and debris (discarded or abandoned items) must be properly disposed of and picked up.

Alleys must be maintained, and inoperative vehicles must be stored under a structure.
Garbage and Recycling

Please ensure that garbage and recycle is at your curb or designated collection spot no sooner than 7:00 p.m. the night before and no later than 6:00 a.m. on your collection day.

All empty containers are to be removed from public view and stored in the side yard or rear yard before 8:00p.m. on the day of collection. Containers are not allowed to be stored at the curbside, in the front yard or on a porch.
