Established in 2013, the Institute for Border Logistics and Security (IBLS) is designated to be North America's premier Location for cross-border logistics, education and research. Its purpose is to provide an infrastructure of knowledge in the field of cross-border logistics and security through collaborative efforts across academia, research, industry and government.

Objectives of the IBLS include:

• Increasing "border-readiness" (awareness and knowledge on border issues)
• Simplifying and streamlining border-related information and processes on border issues
• Increasing collaboration on border issues across various organizations
• Supporting Windsor in becoming a world class economic cluster
