Glengarry Fire Update Some Residents Return to Glengarry Apartment Building

There’s good news for some residents displaced after a fire at an apartment building yesterday at 333 Glengarry Avenue. The majority of residents from floors 1 through 5 will be allowed to return home however, some apartments still require further remediation. There is still no hot water throughout the building at this time. Residents on floors 6, 7, and 8 cannot return home until further notice.

Residents are advised to contact CHC for further details at 519-973-4469 to determine if their apartment unit is still affected.

Meanwhile, supports for residents who cannot return to their units will continue to be available at the temporary emergency shelter at the WFCU Centre at 8787 McHugh Street which is being operated by the City of Windsor, with support from the Red Cross.

The City of Windsor would like to thank its health partners including the Windsor Essex Ontario Health Team, Pozitive Pathways, Windsor Essex Community Health Centre, the Mobile Medical Support team and the Canadian Mental Health Association as they ensure the health care needs of the residents is met.

Transit Windsor is providing shuttle service for tenants until 9pm tonight to and from the WFCU Centre and the Homelessness and Housing Help Hub (H4) at 400 Wyandotte Street East. The H4 and WFCU Centre staff are providing information directly to residents.
